Kula health is now offering Cosmetic Acupuncture treatments by a registered Acupuncturist with specialised postgraduate training in Cosmetic Acupuncture - Brendan O’Loughlin.
Cosmetic acupuncture is a gentle, relaxing and luxurious treatment using specialised, silicon-coated, Japanese needles for an ultra smooth, pain-free experience. Promoting increased blood flow, enhanced collagen and elastin production as well as improved facial muscle tone, cosmetic acupuncture treatments are a natural, safe and effective way of changing the appearance, firmness and brightness of the face.
How it works:
Cosmetic acupuncture involves a number of different facial rejuvenation techniques :
Targeting facial muscle motor points (areas where nerves and muscles meet), certain muscles are instructing to either relax and soften (for tight muscles) or lift and tone (for weak or sagging muscles).
Targeting the skin and soft tissues, needling certain areas of the face stimulates a healing response and the production of additional collagen and elastin. This may result in the firming or softening of fine lines and wrinkles, the plumping of areas that have lost volume or improved healing of blemishes and pimples.
Facial acupuncture points are selected to clear blockages and promote the circulation of blood, nutrients and Qi to the face, which may result in reduced inflammation, a brighter complexion and softer, smoother, more hydrated skin.
Body acupuncture points are also chosen specifically to help and balance the entire system and harmonise any issues that may be contributing to problem skin.
Cosmetic acupuncture is most suitable for those looking for a safe, natural and gentle approach for softening fine lines and wrinkles, easing facial tension, reducing pigmentation and uneven skin tones, boosting skin healing (clearing blemishes and scaring) and slowing the signs of ageing. For best results, a course of 5-10 regular treatments is generally recommended (depending on presentation, age and expectations) followed by maintenance treatments as required.
What to expect:
While no two treatments are the same, an initial cosmetic acupuncture treatments typically involves a complete case history, skin assessment, body acupuncture treatment (addressing any underlying issues like stress, insomnia, etc), gua sha (facial massage) and cosmetic acupuncture treatment (commonly 10-30 facial needles). You are then left to relax for 15-30 minutes while the needles work their magic. Allow 45 minutes for return treatments.
